VEGA TEC 1
VEGA Tec 1
Ve·ga | \ ˈvē-gə, ˈvā-\ a
noun :
Astronomy. the brightest star in the constellation
Lyra.
“the descending eagle,” originally a name applied
to the three stars α, β and γ Lyrae.
“arguably the next most important star in the sky after the Sun”.
Stand out from the crowd. The Vega is a speed machine, with its very straight outline and aggressive hip/flyer. This board will fly down the line, but still pull a tight arc when you stomp on the tail. Designed to suit all levels of riders from casual to advanced this board will perform in fast down the line waves ranging from knee high to double overhead. It will work particularly well for riders wanting a little more length to get additional paddle power for critical waves, but do not want the additional size associated with a longboard. Do yourself a favour, try out The Vega and light up some faces.

Board Description
GENERAL GOAL | THEME OF THE BOARD:
A general waves catcher and down the line style board.
WAVE TYPE | SIZE IT’S WORKING BEST:
All wave types. From knee up to double overhead and more.
MANEUVERS IT DOES BEST:
Down the line power carves, Floaters.
SKILL LEVEL IT’S BEST FOR:
Novice to Pro.
PADDLE POWER:
Above average.
WHAT YOU THOUGHT OF WHEN YOU DESIGNED IT?:
“I wanted a great paddling, wave catching machine for crew who want a little extra board to get over the edge. The hip/flyer makes it very controlled and responsive even in critical conditions, you can wash off speed and gain it whenever necessary. ” Dylan Burger
WHAT IT POSSIBLY COMPROMISES ON THEN?:
Being a longer board it doesn’t like to fit tight into the pocket right under the lip.
OUTLINE:
Fuller nose, clean outline into an aggressive hip/flyer. So when you pump down the line and lean it on rail the arc of the turn feels performance, the hip/flyer offers loads of drive and control, all that area just powers off nothing when you’re on the back foot.
RAILS:
Slightly fuller, tucked edge into tail. The Rails are slightly fuller, but just pinch down a little dropping the apex closer to the bottom, allowing the rail to bury into a turn easier. The tail rail has a slight tuck, this gives you a little more warning before it pops into a drift. It’s also really fine, so it slices through the water with minimum drag and buries nice and deep, offering hold and control to a board that could otherwise be a little slippery.
ROCKER:
Performance tail rocker, with a slightly flatter nose entry. With this amount of rocker, the board stays nice and loose, super sensitive and fits into tight pockets, allowing you to attack sections at speed. The slightly flatter nose carries onto small waves better without pushing water.
BOTTOM:
Single to double concave. The single concave helps the inside rail engage earlier, initiating turns faster, while also directing water off the outside rail in a downward direction, applying Newton’s 3rd law of physics. Whilst the double helps to create a quicker more responsive feeling under the back foot.
DECK:
The deck is a fairly standard profile, with the overall board being a little thicker, this carries volume out to the rails in proportion as well as into the nose and tail. This volume in general offers a level of comfort when paddling and catching waves, the first few strokes are not spent climbing out of the water.
FINS:
Thruster. For sure the best performance option, I personally like to run a slightly smaller tail fin, as this frees the tail up a little better in tight under the lip style turns and snaps in general.
FINAL STATEMENT:
A great wave catcher for riders of any level. A board that you can easily advance on, but still works amazingly well for good surfers wanting a bit of extra foam.
